BREH. We could start a whole thread on the drama that pops off when black families get together for events.
At my granddad's funeral, my uncle, who is a wannabe preacher was NOT asked to read the eulogy, but was asked to read a very brief scripture. He's also real goofy, so picture the dad from Meet the Browns getting real deep all of a sudden on some smart dumb shyt. He took the eulogy thing as a slight, and hijacked like 45 minutes of the service with black Israelite shyt that had nothing to do with nothing.
Now this was a hot ass deep Georgia church, aunties were passing out and everyone had tears in their throat still, so nobody was in the mood for that shyt
My uncle was like
Had to literally take the mic from him. No fukks given. Granddadd raised a lotta the people in the family, kids that were his or not, so it was already a touchy day. Let's just say Unc didn't show his face at the cookout.

im black and most of my family is either too poor, too argumentative, too apathetic, or too spiteful to travel to a reunion.
but then again my fam is kinda messed up so maybe its just me. but we havent' had a legit reunion since i was 12

funny thing is my first job out of college was at a public relations firm (black owned) and one of my accounts was the family reunion institute and they would have annual conventions in pittsburgh so i flew out there to attend ....again all blacks and they had workshops how to organize family reunions, dna testing workshops, activities to incorporate.....
i wrote a release on this lady in south carolina with roots in bk and how she used dna testing for her reunion...got it published too
anyway ya'll have that on lock wish my bum ass family had reunions i feel so isolated
