If they are growing up around a majority of blacks who tell them they are into white boy shyt, the idea of black people being in to "non-traditionally" black things doesn't even cross their mind.
The ironic thing is, it's other black people who are telling them that black people don't like what they like.
Why would they then be inspired to find other black people with similar hobbies when it was black people telling them only white people like those hobbies in the first place?
Because this usually happens when they are kids, and they can’t grasp the concept that the black people in their immediate surroundings aren’t the only black people in the world.
I feel like we’re the only group of people who will write off most of our own because of bad experiences. I say this as a kid who was kinda nerdy, but still hung out with the popular kids because of my appearance once I got to high school and started working out. I still listen to Sting, and Josh Groban, and get told I’m not black because I don’t like potato salad.
Some of these black people who have white circles tend to allow their white friends to say racist things, then they feel internalized racism.
