If you have the chance, check out the DVD version with commentary from Hype. I thought that the film was jus aight at first, but when you get to actually peep his thought process behind the film and the fact that a lot of it was switched up and left out, you appreciate it a lot more. Wish he got to work on more films because he really captured the spirit of "the culture" beautifully.

yeah hype wasn't satisfied with the finished product at all. a lot scenes were cut short. some scenes he shot weren't even in the movie like the alternate ending. he hated some of the added music. he fought a lot with the studio on it. i thought it was a great movie--especially for a directorial debut

the cinematography still floors me. malik sayeed is the truth
