Ben Carson: America should never have a Muslim President

Some people here know that I did identify as a muslim for quite a long time, I know what the religion teaches. The simple fact of the matter is that a lot of people here are only Muslims because of their family, Islam to them means nothing more than having a muslim name, maybe wearing hijab, going to the masjid once in a while, and celebrating eid with friends and family. I'm not talking about those people. I'm talking about what the religion is about at it's core. Islam is both a system of belief and an ideology designed to dictate every facet of human life. It's the latter that I'm saying is incompatible with not only western society, but non muslim societies in general. Most Muslims in the world see Islam as an unwavering whole comprised of these two parts, until they get to the point where they start to evolve as a group and modify their worldviews to help themselves better assimilate within modern societies maybe we can talk about them becoming presidents and prime ministers in other countries....but we aren't there yet. Most Muslims will deny that there's anything wrong with their religion to begin with. Let the religion mature first, nobody owes muslims anything.

Yeah and I think Ben Carson said that unless a Muslim would be willing to subvert their religious beliefs to comply with the constitution, he couldn't see supporting one to be POTUS. Now he may be lying, and I think he is, but there's technically nothing wrong with what he said. Muslims calling for him to drop out of the race for that is ridiculous.

See my above post. I don't see Islam evolving at all, the way it's designed is set up to check any kind of innovation. It's either gonna fly or not.

Islam has gone through a number of changes throughout its existence just like Christianity or Judiasm, both of which have religious scriptures and tenets that are as strict as Islam but evolved over time.

As I said before: There are more christians in this country, so you have more chance for moderates to take root than you do with fewer muslims who are more likely to ID with the extremists in the US. Its just statistics

Thats why I'd never vote for a muslim president.
