Imo it's not his supporters I would be worried about if I was him. It is the independents and dems that may vote for him potentially. Picking Carson would be a bad move for those voters so I hope he does it lol.

I see your point but Trump's strategy is Trump. The only thing that helped him with Mike Pence was the evangelical Christians. Ben Carson is practically in the same boat although he offers diversity.

There’s no reason to believe his base would abandon him if he chose Carson.

look at what they’ve accepted so far. They’d be more likely to believe that Carson was subservient for Trump, a role he’d have to embrace in order to maintain his position.

So, the question really is what type of person Carson really is. He’s definitely not unintelligent in his field of studies but as far as his character and willingness to lower himself just so he can have some status over others or some chance at a “future”, his social intelligence, he’s abandoned some of already.
