One thing people gotta remember, Joe put together a rag-tag group that was molded into a championship squad, especially when the league was mad as fukk that we contended. Getting Larry Brown might have been levels of luck, but he was here, got a ship, and followed his history by eventually being out.
Joe's drafting of Darko was because former owner Bill Davidson was always against spending too much money. Drafting Carmello or Bosh at the time was never going to happen for Joe, cuz he would watch them walk after that 3rd year. Davidson would NEVER have offered the max contract to any player.
How Joe got Sheed, and got him to stay after that 'ship is beyond me
I don't know too much of the details, but the one thing I put on Joe from here on is the hiring of Flip Saunders. That alienated the face of the franchise, and his leaving was the cut that slowly bled this team to death.
Well, I pin one other thing on Joe: giving money to Vllanueva and Gordon, but that was desperation to make SOME sort of move. It didn't go so well
But Joe is no dumbass, he knows what it do when it comes to this game. The fact that cheap fukk is rotting in the grave, and a gung-ho dude is now writin checks, shyt should get interesting again
Fam what are you talking about bill davidson wasnt cheap. He paid everybody what they were worth.Homie was the first owner to cop a private jet fror his team, he built the palace with no tax payer help.
Darko was the consensous #2 pick of that draft not because the owner was afraid of a max contract years later.

If I was Miami, I would have made a push for Gordon over Ray Allen on the low to boost that bench. My fave player that disappeared off the charts

Yet Mr. D had no problem giving Chauncey 15 mil a year at 32? Come on man no excuses for that. That team with Melo, Bosh, or especially Wade wins 4 titles in a row. If Davidson refused to pay, first off nikkas woulda rioted, and secondly they still could have made a trade and gotten value. No way to defend the Darko shyt. It was a bad pick period.
Great trade. Got rid of Gordon, you got Magette comin of the books and you can amnesty Charlie V. Just need one more lucky lottery and some smart FA moves next year and Joe will have redeemed himself.
