Seems to me SAS has a point about how little of Simmons' abilities have bee on display.

LeBron doesn't even defer in key situations, he just is as likely to pass as he is to shoot. He's still always been the one making the play, often on isolations. Deferring is standing in the corner while somebody else makes the play.

As far as Simmons goes, Stephen A. and Skip Bayless aren't the guys to throw you faith in when it comes to evaluating college players, or basketballers at all honestly.
:stopitslime:
Defer is always understood as the final shot, not the final pass. That's always been the criticism.

Simmons looks weak in crunch time and says he wants to play PG, not SG, SF, or PF. Point Guard at 6'10".

I think Brandon Ingram is the prospect to build your franchise around over Simmons:yeshrug:

My Pops Forever RIP
He could be Lamar Odom all over again where we're always waiting for him to "figure it out" until we realize he is who he is. Should be a really good player, but I'd take Ingram over Simmons.
Here's where I take issue with Odom comparisons.

Odom had mental issues. At his best, he was scratching the surface of his potential. Off the court bullshyt and him being timid held him back. I don't know if Simmons has those issues. If he doesn't, he could be the realized potential of Odom.

Ingram has 2 potentially major strikes against him

1. His body has to fill out and soon. Otherwise, you as a coach will be spending 4 years waiting for him to fill out. Not everyone is Durant where you can be a skeleton and dominate.

2. And I said this in another thread: HE'S A DUKIE! Always wary of highly touted Blue Devils. The best player in recent memory to come from there was Kyrie and he pretty much played at Duke for a week. It's not the kiss of death the way a Syracuse player is or a Georgetown player, but Duke is great at making you look great for Duke. Even a guy like Redikk needed a long time to figure it out at the next level.

lol stephen A is annoying but i completely agree with his assessment of the coaching and simmons' timidness
so you agree that simmons, who couldn't hit the wide side of a barn with a shot at the beginning of the season, should be shooting more threes:what: that boy barely makes his mid range jumpshots:why:

y'all boys don't watch lsu bball like that, if you did you would know that even tho his mid range game has SLIGHTLY improved, he still has a LONG way to go before he is even the 3rd best mid range big man on LSU's roster.

he has shot less than 5 threes all year, I think 1 or 2 a game isnt asking much...but as far as stephen A he was putting a lot of emphasis on shot attempts in general as well

For last 20 years
KG had it
Kobe had it
Durant had it
Lebron had it

This dude doesn't ... Never trust a jack of all trades, master of none type player
KG and Kobe never had to carrying a team at 19 :stopitslime: so how would you know?

Durant is still being questioned for his assertiveness bc how he lets Westbrook steal the moment and Lebron was being questioned all the way up to his 2nd season in Miami.

and you obviously don't watch him play because no one in this draft is a better passer, has a higher IQ, or drives to the basketball better than him.

None of these players were being as micro-evaluated as Simmons. I can't even think of a player who has come close to people pinpointing every detail of their game as Simmons has. The closest player was probably Wiggins.

it is asking much, cuz if you ever watched a full game of lsu bball in the past, you would see ben AIRBALL shots that were not farther than the free throw line...multiple times a game...

trust me, dude will start letting that shot go when its really ready, a guy like ben whose focus is getting teammates involved and being efficient is not gonna shoot 5 shots a game from beyond the 3 just to make 1 and impress guys like stephen a who don't even watch full game of lsu bball

these dudes (including stephen a) expecting dude to jack up threes when he can barely hit a mid range jumper:dead:
