Cuz he wanted to get traded

But it’s funny that the horrible NBA media could follow this story so close without making it clear that he actually had a serious injury. Had everyone thinking it was apart of his plan to get out of Philly
If he had a legitimate injury then, he would've used it amongst the 10 different excuses. He didn't say anything about a back until it was time for him to play in NJ. He even said stress from getting ready to play has cause his back to flare up.

The goal for Simmons is to collect the rest of his contract without playing a single game. He will "mentally recover" all of next season.

I think the Nets get some kind of exception and he gets waived. I'm not sure he'll ever play basketball again. Granted, that's his prerogative, and everyone isn't built for the bright lights and stress that comes with being a pro-athlete, but if that's truly the case, he'd be fine with whatever settlement comes his way and not be so concerned with back money lost.

As for the trade, I've said they could've waived the physical numerous times. However, teams generally don't waive it unless the injury is known before hand. There's full disclosure involved and Nets seemingly didn't know anything about a back until they were informed he was getting ready to play. And it's been almost 2 months, so was there rumblings of needing surgery sooner? I don't question this injury so much, it's just a matter of everything pointing to him delaying getting on the court as soon as possible.

With that being said, the next CBA will prevent these things from outright happening again. No more Harden, Simmons, Kyrie...even ish like Rodney White.

This is a common piece of rhetoric but how do you suppose this gets “prevented” in the next CBA... The situations are all a little different to begin with but we never hear the supposed solution from people claiming to be collective bargaining prognosticators

Is this part of a ploy to get that money back?

Might be a surgery that was more optional just, saying.

You post this like Dwight wasn’t a complete shell of himself and MPJ will never reach his potential due to this injury
Porter had the aurgery after being drafted. He looked great after. The new back injury was something else
