No one gets an epidural just to work the angle. He has real back issues. What causes them I'm a little skeptical of. I don't think anyone is telling the full truth about what's happening.


The mental health aspect, personally I do question, but if we've learned something about the Nets, it's that they're very dishonest and will go back on their word if it's convenient to them. Even if he was healthy, bringing him into a pivotal game 3 when he's never played with these guys outside of Curry and maybe Mills didn't make basketball sense.

This. I actually had the same surgery a couple years ago (mine was L5), and he'll be fine by training camp. I think the bigger question that needs to be asked and looked into is:



I can only speak on what I went through, but if his back was legitimately fukked up to the point he needs surgery (which also means a steroid shot failed and physical therapy didn't improve things), he wouldn't have been cleared to do any physical activity that could further aggravate it. I can buy the Nets waiving the physical to acquire him, but something is really off that any legitimate doctor would have cleared someone who is in need of back surgery for physical activity in general.

The Nets medical staff has been brought into question by those who are paying attention. Joe Harris ended up needing a second surgery.

Stronger policies to insure there is no back-n-forth of being out with determining whether it's paid or unpaid. All companies have such policies. Currently, there's the fine/suspensions for contract detrimental stuff like that..and everything else is pretty much on the honor system. With Ben, they had to pretty much establish ultimatums before they could dock him, which is how he was able to keep delaying his return. There's been plenty of issues like this, these are just the most current, but you pretty much always get your money, with very few anomalies. They are going to take measures to ensure that if you're cleared to play, you suit up, and anything else outside of conditional family emergency is an unpaid day. That will tighten this up. Bynum was another that went that route. Hell, it happened with AI his last go round in Philly. He used the his daughter was sick, so he rushed to be with her..and was granted leave from the team. Tawana came out like - He hasn't seen her in months, and she's been healthy for a while now. It turned out this was during his heavy drinking period, and he truly went MIA, so eventually he was waived, but he was paid for that entire time being out.

Like what tho... That's my whole question... You dudes keep talking vaguely and when you say “cleared to play” by who? You think that a doctor selected by an employer will legally be the only person that can determine the merits of an individuals health complaints don't think that's how it works brother ...if you go to a doctor outside of the organization and they say you're not “clear to play” then what? Sounds like this whole supposed crack down falls apart or at the very least would-be forced into arbitration

It covers the organization for making a trade for someone who they never saw play. They had been ramping him up for over a month instead of diagnosing him and shutting it down. He feels it made them look bad so he's going to make him look bad.

He’s had back issues on more on occasion since being in the NBA, so I’d be curious as to what this instance worse the point that he needed to get surgery.
