This does not make sense to me, they are basically locking themselves into medicoracy the next 5 years. On top of that it will end up hurting their team because there is no way the can afford all the talented young players on that roster if they give him this contract.

Are QBs that rare where they really feel this is the best they can do? It seems like they should have learned from the ravens what giving 100+ million contracts to avg QBs will do and flacco >>>> dalton.

I can already see looking back in two years and everyone will be able to pin point this contract as when this franchise took a nose dive.

This is a no brainer. Colin deal might have been the worst in NFL history. Colin should fire his agent
It depends, if he continues to play at a high level with no injuries it's a win win. He will still get his money and the deal is structured to where the 49ers still have cap flexibility to keep great talent around him. If it is successful you could see a lot more deals for QBs structured in this way similar to how superstar nba players are now encouraged to take less so the team can be more competitive.

Dude is what? 25? Already taking less money? Keep in mind he can be cut any year NBA players can't

These NFL teams are ruthless Breh. I just read over his contract a little closer and he will be fukked if he gets hurt (given his playing style it is much more likely to happen to him then other Top Tier QBs). He essentially is only guaranteed $13 mill out of the full $126 mill. The niners could cut him after this year and only have likr $10 mill in dead money.

Look how cut throat these NFL guys are. They are making him buy his own insurance policy that pays THEM if HE gets hurt

"The contract also requires Kaepernick to purchase, with after-tax dollars, a disability policy that pays the 49ers $20 million if he suffers a career-ending injury."
