I got a quick question for other rap fans on here. If a rapper like Benny dropped 2 albums at separate times 1 for their core audience and 1 for commercial will you guys say they sold out?

Me personally no. I do see how it would turn some fans off though. The albums sound more cohesive if they separate that stuff but it allows them to eat well and make the music they want to make. I know back in the day they'd have the radio songs on the album and put out stuff for their core base on mixtapes. With mixtapes being non existant they don't really have a choice and probably don't want to get abandoned by the fan base they work hard to get by going commercial/selling out.

It's really tough because the commercial rappers aren't hiring guys like Benny to spit a verse on their singles like they used to get Kiss, or Bun to do.
I don't think they're capable of making commercial music. The closest he can come to something commercial is something Push would do which is to still rap about that hard white but with a club banger type beat. These Griselda dudes, who I like btw, don't make entire songs about partying or even a fun night on the town. So far the most commercial or pop thing from them is rapping over a Bink or Hot Boy track instead of Daringer or Uncle Al

Burden Of Proof is the closest I’ve heard of that, cause a lot of that album’s production is more lively and crisp.

OP,

I don't know his situation. But that tweet is not a good look anyway you slice it. Griselda popped because of their loyal fanbase from my understanding.

Benny coming off as a diva. He just signed to Def Jam. Def Jam and his team are responsible for these gripes; not the fans.

If I was him it's time to have a meeting and re-work the strategy. Holding fans accountable for his situation is some BS.

Yea...my issue with this shyt is Benny seems really naïve and thirsty to be more than what he really is. He's way too one dimensional and real talk he says the same shyt and not in a creative way. If I recall TT4 isn't on Def Jam but Empire. Seems like WSG isn't in charge of things for him anymore and he placed his future/career in the hands of others and this is the result at least when it comes to this album. The visuals have been rushed and tacky and besides the Cole single no one is really going crazy for this like he expected I guess. If he think this isn't living up to his expectations then his Def Jam debut is really gonna be eye opening for him.

That slow and dark production gets old QUICKLY when you don't have the charisma to make it work..

If Ar-AB dusty ass was on some of these tracks, the vibe is COMPLETELY different:wow:

Posts like this pretty much conforming dudes aren’t actually listening to their music despite claiming to be fans and commenting. Like sports takes based on what’s strolling at the bottom of ESPN Center n stead of actually watching games.
