Right? benny didn't even exist in the era he's talking about.

I've heard his earlier shyt; breh was on some ATL biter shyt before he linked up with uncle AL :mjlol:
:dead:

Those dudes been cosplaying as 90s/00s east coast rappers, right down to signing bad major label deals lol. Signing to Def Jam so you can tell everyone you made it...in 2023 lol. Come on.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
When conscious music was dominant in 88 - 92 > When the streets had a hold on the culture
All them conscious nikkas was in the streets too..

That's the point.. You got a bunch of nikkas who was in the HOUSE running the culture... Hell, the biggest guys who cover this shyt and run this shyt, stream from the HOUSE..

Ain't nobody outside in the midst of black culture everyday. They watch it from online

Are you dumb. B.E.N.N.Y. was out during the height of the mixtape era.... When everyone was outside from the rappers, to the DJ's to the media

Stop it.

Benny literally said that there were cons to when the streets had a hold om the culture. He's obviously talking about when Gangster Rap really took off in 93 all thru 50 Cents reign. The conscious era of 88 - 92 did not have a street element at the forefront. You did not think of "the streets" when Kid N Play Fresh Prince and MC Hammer were running things.
You don't know shyt

Play was known for robbing nikkas... Fresh Prince got busy in Philly and everybody knew if you could fukk with him, Charlie Mack was gonna gun you down.... And Hammer..... Man hammer was RUNNING shyt.. Had hits out on nikkas and people running scared to even talk about him. Ask Redman

Y'all are the exact people Benny was referring to. Bunch of internet nerds who wasn't outside and do not understand what was going on in the culture.. Y'all gotta realize the era he's speaking of NOBODY WAS ON THE INTERNET!!! Everybody was outside. And if you wasn't, you was lame as fukk and nobody cared about you.

Only recently did you get to be a loser, inside the house ass nikka, and still talk like you down and know what's going on. Fab 5 Freddy would have smacked the shyt out of any of these streamers... He was outside

nikkas need to expand their vocabulary. Ironic when talking about a person whose livelihood is words. "Nerd/weird" aint saying shyt. If you doing anything and making money and being successful nerds are playing a major part in that. Musicians and creatives in general are weird.

The streets aint never ran shyt. The streets bust it open for the highest bidder and allowed itself to become a modern day minstrel joke as opposed to a voice of defiance and resistance. The culture is shaped by creatives that tend to be closer to the nerd end of things and then nerds cultivate it for consumption by the masses.

If you talking vultures and people with no integrity or regard for the culture and black folks then say that. Plenty of them in the streets too. More likely than not this all comes down to somebody just saying something he didn't like rather than some deeper issue about the culture.

:camby:

Fresh Prince, Hammer and Kid N Play was not rapping about no streets nor were they repping the streets in the late 80's. They was all rapping about partying, having fun and getting girls. No one was looking at Kid N Play and Fresh Prince as street nikkaz in the late 80's. Charlie Mack was the first out the limo not Fresh Prince. How could they be the voice of the streets when they weren't repping that nor was that their image? Hip Hop wasn't on that street representation like that in the late 80's. They did not represent "hardcore" hip hop. Now you can say what you just said about KRS One and Just Ice but not no damn Kid N Play or Fresh Prince. Just stop.

I'm 47. I'm older then Benny. I'm not a representation of this new generation. You don't know what you are talking about and you just saying anything.

dude can rap but he is a corny loser and it has stagnated his career

he loves projecting and acting one dimensional which is ironically why he is stuck.

his fans are rap nerds. if you post in this sub you are a rap nerd. let that sink in. being a nerd isn't a bad thing. it just means you care a whole lot and are passionate about particular subjects. doesn't have to be math or science. we are music nerds. music nerds always ran the culture.

rap culture is obsessed with trying to distance itself from regular people, squares and nerds. it invokes and is inspired by the streets but it has never been the streets and street dudes didn't do shyt except try to milk it.

this is all so cringe

nobody need a street resume to appeal to other nerds pretending not to be nerds.

i can't believe a grown ass man wrote this. being outside just meant you were street wise not of the streets and detailing peoples dirt to score them clout is teenager shyt.

Can you read... NERDS HAVE TAKEN CONTROL

It doesn't say "nerds are rapping about dancing and partying again!"

He's talking about DJ Akadmiks, Aiden Ross, Kai and those internet boys running the game and white nerdy fakkits giving reviews and pushing the culture

Where it used to be you had to go outside and see what's hot... and check with black people who was outside, to see who was hot

How you heard that and thought about rappers rap content is amazing

Another idiot who didn't get the message... "This is so cringe"

Yea... again... nothing to do with the point.. The nerds in hiphop wasn't existing. You checked the Source... DJ's... Clubs... Women.... Or went to the club yourself

You wasn't a nerd in Idaho, talking about "yea I'm the go-to for hip hop news" and it was some loser on his computer in a basement telling the world what's HOT, who's snitching and what gang wars is going on.... that is BENNY's point

Wait! You're saying Will was out there in West Philly smacking the shyt outta dudes before he blew up? :ohhh:
YES!! nikkas thought Will was "Fresh Prince" and soft and wouldn't cuss.... Like the nikka wasn't still having to live in Philly and do shows in the 80s in hole in the wall hip hop clubs

I'm from Philly.. Ask how Will Smith used to get busy out there. Ask why him and Jeff never been touched. Ask why he's seen as soft and corny but nobody ever touched him... Look at Charlie Mack's IG and see how many people show him love and respect. nikka was "security" and still "manages" Will at 50

That was the point... And that's Will Smith. You got these nerds who never been outside talking bout "Yea he a real goon. His team committed 15 murders last week. He a real nikka!!" - signed by some 21 white boy from New Hampshire
