the only thing that has made them stand out is technology and how they've used it. If no one had a smart phone they wouldn't exist. The whole competition thing is nonsense. Rates, reliability and overall customer experience varies with cabs/taxis. You can't say that all taxis are over priced and have shytty drivers. All you're doing to using Uber's marketing talking points. They are no different than a taxi service, its just the way they set it up is different. Taxi companies are hating because Uber get all of the benefits of being a taxi business but don't have to deal with the negatives which include minimum requirements. Uber has the luxury of charging a cheaper service because their expenses/liabilities aren't has much as a Taxi company.

The same questions could be asked of Taxis no? and Uber drivers don't accept cash.

Taxi companies can't compete in the open market so they are trying to use local municipalities to fight Uber. They think people are using Uber because its cheaper.

People use Uber because it offers a better experience. It's convenient, the cars are cleaner and the drivers are courteous and offer better customer service. Compare that to FOB a$$holes who could care less about customer service.

It's not an open market idiot. Uber literally exists cause it broke every rule and got big enough before those dumb old fukks knew what happened.
