edit: Obama, Bernie Sanders to meet privately - CNNPolitics.com

Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama will meet at the White House Wednesday with Sen. Bernie Sanders, days after heaping praise upon the Vermont senator's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton.

In a statement, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest described the upcoming meeting as "informal," saying Obama and Sanders discussed arranging the session during last month's Congressional Holiday Ball.

"The two will meet privately in the Oval Office and there will be no formal agenda," Earnest wrote.

Sanders and Clinton are running a close race in Iowa, which holds the first nominating contest of the 2016 race on Monday.

Obama offered an expansive view of the campaign during an interview taped last week, tipping his hat toward Clinton but avoiding a full-fledged endorsement.

"She can govern and she can start here, Day One, more experienced than any non-vice-president has ever been who aspires to this office," Obama told Politico.

Obama and Clinton last met in December for lunch. The White House did not disclose the session ahead of time, and said afterward it was mostly a "social occasion."

Earlier this month, Earnest told reporters that Obama and Sanders had met on occasion during gatherings of lawmakers at the White House.

Thoughts? :jbhmm:

Probably gonna sit back and talk about how much they both hate the Clintons.

Obama may say some nice things about Sanders' foreign policy in the next few days.

Unfortunately, it does always come back to this. Obama is bad, McCain or Romney or Clinton for that matter would have been much worse.

Obama has honestly checked a lot of boxes along the way for increasing protections for lower and middle class people during his tenure. People with the memory of more than a fruit fly(American voter) do best to remember that. Obama is the president he is not solely only responsible for policy on the federal and state level. We've had to suffer through a period of the most inactive congress is our history.

If the conservative c*nts gained power we would have napalmed Gaza by now and worse. I don't want to imagine the domestic policy of these religious, anti science, xenophobic, environment destroying twerps.

And with this type of thought is why Clinton is a so called "frontrunner"

I guess you could post all the awful corporatist things he's done and then his accomplishments for the middle and working class. We could then weigh them. The only alternative to Obama's presidency was McCain at the end of the day so anything else is purely hypothetical.

:obama:

It would certainly be more productive than vague assertions of impropriety.
