Absolutely no way you can contextualize this to make it acceptable. Notice how his invocation of OUR pain is merely used in his advocacy of white working class men. This should be the end of his campaign. :camby:

Not defending him, but he was pretty much saying that it doesn’t matter how bad white people have it, they can feel good thinking they are better than us.

That feeling of, “At least I’m not a n-word” is what made them die in the civil war to maintain a system that kept them poor due to slavery, and still has them poor and toothless, needing oxygen tanks for their black lungs, but voting to cut Medicaid and Medicare, because “welfare queens”.

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

The point he's trying to make is similar to this quote, except he used the n-word was so unnecessarily and made himself look stupid

What he’s saying was the truth then, and still is now.

The existence of black/brown people to hate, is why they allow themselves to keep being exploited.

What y’all mad he said the word ******s?
He could have replaced the slur with “black people.” His casual use of the term is unacceptable and figures into a pattern of him being dismissive of identitarian issues as they pertain to black America.

He even puts the word in quotes implying him using another voice. If people gonna be fake mad at this then they gotta complain about To Kill a Mockingbird and any other book that talks about racism.

I guess:manny:

He said it to be provocative on purpose. I don’t consider myself a Bernie supporter, but find an old white man that hasn’t said the word ****** :francis:

According to history, he's absolutely correct.

Thanks to Bacon's Rebellion, the 'White' race was created in America to oversee European interests and control us.
Just read an excerpt from a book on this with my son. The book made cooked it up as "an early example of blacks and whites working to together for a common goal.":comeon:
It served as lesson in not believing everything you read just because it's in a book.

Some books are better than others, though......
