My little sister moved down south during her senior year of HS and she said that the kids were like 5 years behind, from the kinda work we have up north.

I already knew New Jersey would be top 5.

Black folks who leave NJ and say they left for “better schools” is something that I will never understand.

New York number 17. I’ll take take that top 20

:ehh:
I think its cause the good school systems aren't usually where we live.

Doesn’t Jersey have a system where they allow kids from different school districts to join better ones?
I'm not 100% sure about that. Maybe districts as in districts within cities, but not like different towns. Each town has its own school system, which is part of why taxes are so high here. And while Newark has multiple high schools so you may be able to do that, other cities only have 1 (Elizabeth, Irvington, Plainfield, etc.) The better school systems are in the same counties (Maplewood, Short Hills/Livingston), but I don't think they do inter-city attendance.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

Yea, I guess it would depend on what "district" means in this case. I've talked with someone that works in the Irvington schools and she says quite a few times, parents from New York move to cities and don't realize that the schools in that area aren't great. But i will say you can find pretty good private schools. Can also find really hood ones too, lol
