Best Buy's GCU Is Coming To An End

The closest one to me closed down so now I got to drive 25 minutes to get to one. The one that closed was horrible. I'd order shyt online and it would take like 6-7 hours before it was ready for pick up. A few times I went in the store and they didn't have it waiting on me. After waiting like 20 minutes for them to figure out what was going on I just walked back and picked up a copy of the game I was scooping my damn self and had them just scan that one for me. Half the time when I wanted to buy something nobody was at the cashier area to check out so I had to go find somebody. But it was such a great deal I kept going back.

My exact experience as well.
The biggest screw up I had with them was from when I preordered the collectors edition of Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain (And the coli knows how big of an MGS fan I am).
This was when I first signed up for GCU. I did it online. A few months later MGS preorders opened up so I went online excited as hell. I logged in, put the preorder in my cart and noticed that the discount wasn't being applied. I called customer service and they told me to go down to my local best buy. I get there and they can't figure out why my discount wasn't being applied. By the time they figured it out, preorders had been closed. I got a manager, called corporate, and explained the whole situation to everyone and no one offered any solution. I ended up preordering the game at the gamestop right next store for full price. This all happened within about 3 hours from the moment they opened up the preorders.
There have been a bunch of times where I'll catch a sale for a popular game and I want to make sure I can get it, so I order it online for store pick up so I don't run the risk of someone else scooping it up. Everytime I've gone to pick the game up it has always taken them no less than 15 minutes to find where they put the game.
Like I said, the prices have been so good I was willing to overlook the service, but if this is over then so is my business with them.

shyt man when I went to renew mine they would only let me renew in store. I go to the counter and I tell them multiple times that I'm already a member. The cashier keeps ringing it up as a new purchase and then tells me "oh it's already been activated". I tell them that's my existing membership and I need to extend it but they swear it applied. Fast forward 5-6 months of course the shyt actually didn't extend. Now the new card is expired before it's been applied to my account so the store tells me they can't do anything for me and I eventually had to call corporate customer service. After about a week they finally did something on their end to extend me for two years and then gave me a $15 gift card to go with it. During that time though I was waiting to buy a game and had to wait for all that to be sorted out.

Man the future is bleak. Capitalism is reaching its logical conclusion and monopolies are taking over every industry. Only a matter of time until theirs like 4 companies left.

I remember copping one of the Madden's from GCU and the driver literally threw it in the bushes and said he delivered it I couldn't find it so I told Best Buy and had to wait a couple days before they could send me a replacement copy. I ended up finding the box in the bushes after the replacement arrived so I got a free copy

Stopped at Best Buy yesterday to pick up a 4K tv and an XB1X.
Best Buy employee tells me Gamers Club is officially gone but then proceeds to tell me about this "great new program" where for $200 a year Best Buy can be my on call tech service and come out and hook up my tv, do virus removal on my computer, install appliances, etc. for "free".

That just shows me how out of touch with modern consumers Best Buy really is.
These dummies really think I'm out here spending upwards of $3,000 a year in tech and would need them to come out to my house to hook up an HDMI cable and plug a microwave into a wall and have the nerve to charge $200 for the "service"?

I had a similar experience with an Apple watch.
Best Buy sent it via the USPS. 4 weeks later the watch still hadn't arrived. Best Buy sends another out to me and I get it within 2 days.
A week after that, the original watch I ordered shows up.
To be fair, this is a complaint against the crappy USPS service but I'm still pissed at Best Buy for this GCU mess and I'm blaming them for choosing to ship via USPS when they should know their service is Basura in the highest degree.

Best Buy sent it via the USPS. 4 weeks later the watch still hadn't arrived. Best Buy sends another out to me and I get it within 2 days.
A week after that, the original watch I ordered shows up.

:ThisGuy:If you MUST know, I called them and they gave me a UPS label to drop it off. They said I couldn't take it back to one of their stores for some reason.
You soundin incredibly corny right now though. Like you was ready to go "tell on me" or something :DAIGOCOMEON:Also I guarantee Best Buy is gonna come up off this. They opened a case with USPS and USPS couldn't even prove they ever dropped the package off. They legit admitted they had no idea where it was for over a month. I'm sure USPS ended up having to pay Best Buy for the watch, and now they are getting the watch back any way.

My GCU membership ended almost a year ago. The last 2 games I bought were RE 2 & MK 11 deluxe edition. I still get my games from BB though b/c they have a sale on games like every week and you can do price matching I don't fukk w/GameStop or Target b/c the first store rips ppl off & the second one have trash ass deals when they put games on sale.

I can understand being upset they ended it, but at this point, it's beating a dead horse.

And I still by almost all my games with best buy because for me they're usually the best option - that ship to store option is better than waiting all day for amazon. Got one minutes from home and they hold me down on black Friday.
