Whatcha got? Hiding Place to me is still the best of the batch. There's not many songs where I remember where I was when I heard it, but Hiding Place is one of them.

Little Brother - Hiding Place (prod. 9th Wonder) 2005

Drake feat. Phonte & Elzhi - Think Good Thoughts (prod. 9th Wonder) 2007

Phonte feat. Elzhi - Not Here Anymore (prod. 9th Wonder) 2011

Talib Kweli, Elzhi, & Phonte - No Competition (prod. Khrysis) 2014

I can't choose between Hiding Place and Think Good Thoughts. HP had the godly verses but TGT feels like the better song and that Sweet Love flip is one of 9th's best beats.

I remember when TGT first dropped, I thought Drake was gonna become one of the underground greats. Now...I have to justify why I can still enjoy his music :wow:

I'll try to find the OG version of that song for you. Originally it was used by a duo called The A.L.L.I.E.S. (Big Remo and Novej) that ran with 9th Wonder.

They actually got signed briefly by Dr. Dre and Interscope, but got in a car accident and then went off to do solo stuff. IMO they got the best 9th Wonder beats in general out of everyone after 2002/2004.

I'll find their Sweet Love version. it was dope.

You're the JL encyclopaedia :salute:

I remember the one A.L.L.I.E.S track from DM2 and I thought it was dope. I wish Big Remo was more active because his delivery over Soul Council's production is definitely the best in the crew/label.

Bad news friend. :mjcry:

Remo is no longer on Jamla. Not sure what that means in terms of his future production, and I dunno what happened. I just know that he left near the end of 2015, is no longer on the roster, and that his last release was Sleepwalkers in 2012. He was cranking them out for a minute! He dropped Entrapment in 2010, Robinhood Ree in 2011, and Sleepwalkers in 2012. And then nothing....
:dwillhuh:

His next album is supposedly still on the way, and called Hero, but I have no clue when/if it'll ever drop. He references it on Twitter sometimes, but there's no word of anything official.

One of the most underrated dudes not only on the underground scene, but also among 9th's various crews over the years, and as a southern rapper in general. Dude had great emotion and told great stories. He was also equally great in a duo and solo format which is rare.

:dahell:

First Tom Hardy, now Remo.

My favourite dudes always just end up silently leaving.

Oh it's not just them man. :martin:

Skyzoo, Tom Hardy, and Remo all left. And even though Sundown and Enigma are on the website, Act Proof hasn't dropped anything since 2012 so they might as well be gone. Enigma only had 1 verse on that Jamla project in 2014 and Sundown only had 2. Sean Boog/Away Team retired from rapping. TP might be gone. Not sure.

At this point, Jamla is basically Rapsody, Add-2, HaLo, and GQ, and then Heather Victoria on the R&B tip. And obviously Soul Council on production.
