The 87 and 88 version of the Lakers aren't exactly the same. The 87 Lakers are possibly the greatest team in NBA history, and almost certainly the best of the Showtime teams. Detroit in 87 was not on some beastly shyt, they won 52 games that year. It makes no sense to think that because they took the Lakers to game 7 in 88 that they would have beaten a better version of the Lakers the year before. So yeah, again, the Pistons were not "2 plays from a four peat."

People in here really saying "what about Shaq and Kobe Lakers" "what about any of the Bulls" as if they don't know what back to back means. If you see the three options in the poll, however you may agree about them being the three teams that should be in the poll, it should clearly indicate that the question is about teams that won two in a row, not three or more.
