AA Vol 3 has been on repeat for me since it dropped. It’s just a shame that we’re in a pandemic and lockdown because I would have loved to listen to this whilst I was commuting to/from work.

Been quiet for 4 years? Damn.:francis:
He dropped a couple loosies in 2021 and 2022. You a Day 1 so you know it’s nothing for him to go dormant lol. What can we expect from a man who went damn near 10 yrs between releases lol

That 2008-2011 run takes me back to college when I discovered his music. I think I’ve only heard one interview with him, I’ll have to track it down and post it

I still play this regularly :banderas:

I remember when this was just a snippet on Atmosphere Airlines 2 before the US edition of Changes of Atmosphere dropped in 2009. I played that 79 seconds REPEATEDLY

I feel like the song is El's version of I Used to Love Her

That snippet had me hyped just off the Minnie Ripperton sample alone. At the time, the Mars Remix with Blu was my favourite song from Dela but now I can’t even call it.

This is one of those that I always point people towards when they say Elzhi is one dimensional. He made a song about being friendzoned and it doesn’t feel corny, in the slightest.

New beat tape from Dela! It dropped on October 30

In the winter of 2024, I could barely move and had to lie in bed for the first two months of the year (no worries, I’m doing much better now and haven’t given up on my dreams of one day playing for an NBA team). There wasn’t much I could physically do except for three things: eat chocolate, watch movies, and make beats (the latter, which I thought I was kind of done with…). During those two months, I made almost a hundred beats, kept the ones I liked the most, and put them together to create one (or two?) little beat tape(s).

These are gloomy times we live in. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling like EVERYTHING is getting worse and worse every day. My music has always been a way for me to escape, and I hope it’s done the same for some of you who are reading this.

The problem with some forms of escapism, though, is that they try to make us forget and stop caring. My goal has always been to create beautiful places and spaces through sound, but never to erase or numb the realities of our world. At times, it seems like there is only a thin line between the two. It feels a bit foolish to me that in these darkest of days, all I have to offer is a beat tape (or two). Especially in a world where hip-hop instrumentals have been rebranded as a safe, apolitical thing called lo-fi.

This is none of that though. This beat tape is dedicated to everybody going through struggle. It speaks of pain and healing.

All I hope is that it can gift a moment of peace and relief during your battles.
