Voted Will. Thought is the best MC, but if influence and catalog matter, Will. Will was high in skillset, but he hasn't needed to be a great rapper in decades, so it is what it is. The intro song off that last album was a flash of the old brilliance though.

It was like the whole city could really rap.

That makes no sense. For 1, Thought now has 4 or 5 solo projects. And Beans best album has a feature on every track. The Roots haven't been 2 FT MCs since Things Fall Apart.

It's Black Thought. EST is probably the best rapper based off influence though. He pretty much crafted what became the Philly style
