I think people are generally more sympathetic to TROY because of the nature/feel of the song, which is totally fine as it's one of the GOAT songs.

It's a piff finals matchup as it's kind of the yin/yang of Hip-Hop - I wouldn't be so sure to say that this is an 'internet' thing. Mobb is LOVED globally, the Infamous/HOE/Murda Muzik songs were and still are huge.

There's no shame in TROY losing a poll to Shook Ones, because it's fukking Shook Ones. It's a win-win situation to praise either one.

:jbhmm: this is a little tighter than I imagined even though Shook Ones still in the comfortable lead.

Shook Ones and TROY don't belong on a short list of the best singles in the 90s? :picard:

singles are too vague to be throwing such a distinction out there, especially '90s rap singles.

..........unless the songs were monster hits. and neither of them saw that success. especially shook ones.

it depends on the crowd weighing in on the list.

I have no idea what this means :prodigylol:

If you want to put more weight on commercial success, you can do that :yeshrug:
I'm more evaluating on song quality, impact and legacy.

I remember ALL of the bolded being part of the given criteria.

shook ones, only really makes the short-list regarding "song quality" and that all depends on whose judging.

and while i'd personally take "shook ones" over most of the runner-ups that made it out of the preliminary round, I know that they'd have no chance of even making it out of '95 in a national poll.

with that said, I'm not mad at it, but i'd never say its an elite short-list single. that's all I was really saying.
