Best "Shoot" Angles?

WWE has ran some good "shoot" angles in the last few years. TSC and IWC response proves they were believable in all cases:



I read a lot of people at the time say that while obviously the angle and confrontation was planned, Mayweather breaking Show's nose was not and neither was Show chasing him, Show was legit pissed off. I never bought that, but it was a great angle that got people talking.



"It's a fukking work" classic TSC thread, to even have that much of a debate on whether it was "real" on this type of forum puts it on the list.

A lot of TSC thought he was really leaving WWE after MITB.

If the whole thing was worked and Vince knew about everything Punk would say, they cut this off at exactly the right time in that WWE has allowed Heyman and Joey Styles to bury them and their philosophy in the past but attacking their media campaigns is a deadly sin so it was believable to me at the time that this was a shoot that they would cut off if it went too far.

Any more examples you can think of? The Dean Ambrose thread brought this up to me because the promo I saw of them is an example of a worked shoot that didn't work and seemed obviously fake they way they set it up.

My favourite would be when Matt Hardey came back after Edge stole his bytch. Not because of the execution mind you, just the way he was so self righteous about the whole thing and then went back on everything he said only to be jobbed out in hilarious fashion. I mean this guy tried to claim it was an actual shoot when he attacked Edge twice on the same show and of course his mental breakdown in the following years could all be traced back to losing a woman. The Matt Hardy story is just a barrel of laughs all the way through. What a clown.

^Meltzer said when he spoke to him he got the impression that was why Matt turned down TNA.



I think that's why that rumor of Edge getting back with his wife started on Matt's messageboard...but Edge divorced his bytch the same year to be with Lita.

Matt was it's why he was trying to get back with her when he was with Ashley...but we know how that ended...

Then he got homotional about it on the Internet, complaining about the Live Sex Celebration, and whining on his MySpace when he found out she was fukking CM Punk.

I mean an angle that is passed off as "real" and convinces a good amount of otherwise "smart" fans that it was real, all the ones mentioned so far fit this.

I was a big fan of Matt (I am ashamed to say now) but I lost all respect for him during the course of this...what a p*ssy.

In his shoot he admitted that he begged Lita to take him back and work it out, but she said she couldn't help herself with Edge and didn't want to stop.

speaking of matt hardy, i remember going to a smackdown house show i think and he was us champion defending against mr.kennedy, these lame duck nikkas had the nerve to go like 25 minutes, trying to get matt over a fighting champion or some shyt

only reason i even remember that is because of how long and boring that match was

Please continue with the Matt Hardy stories. This is a part of IWC lore that I don't know much about, except for the fact that Edge stole his woman and he screamed something about Ring of Honor on WWE TV once.

I wouldn't say it's my favorite but the one between Hogan and Russo is memorable for different reasons. To this day no one knows if it was a shoot a work or a worked shoot. I think it was real and if it wasn't it was definitely the best one ever as far as being believable.

And that was obviously not a work.

Why would they waste time inserting Kane into the angle, fire Matt publicly and bring him back just to bury him

There was some obvious backstage politics going on, not to mention WWE has no idea how to write a storyline like that properly. It would've made no sense since Lita was a big face at the time.
