Because Austin already laid the ground work and turned the company around. You think the business wouldn't have been as good in 2000 if Austin wasn't injured? If anything ratings and business would've been even bigger. You can't say that for Michaels. He was getting record low ratings as champ. He has no track record as a draw. Austin does. Without Austin the whole company would be fukked.

Nobody wants to talk about the house show attendance which DOUBLED from the previous year when HBK became the champ. So how the fukk was he not a draw?




WWF house shows beat WCW in house show attendance in all of 96 so how was he not drawing people in when he was bringing the most fans for house shows then any promotion?




What about Wrestlemania 13 that had no HBK but had Bret vs Austin in the co main event drawing less ratings then Wrestlemania 12 with HBK vs Bret





Once HBK became champ in 96 WWF ratings went way up and beat Nitro for 6 straight weeks until Hall showed up on Nitro and they started the NWO. Which started the boom period and everyone was watching WCW at this point.
