No one can fault those picks at the time, not really the point I was making. More making the point that they have a cluster of guaranteed star picks each year, and surround that with some guesses. So when you look back, it seems like the lists are pretty solid


EDIT: this year is the most borderline but I think Tink, Vic Mensa, Fetty, and Vince Staples will be around at least for some time (i doubt they'll be household names or anything but they'll be well-received in their projects). Only year without true 'gimme' picks

girl was really a tumblr rapper who lucked up into a record deal cause shes a black lesbian native american androgynous looking rapper.....

Chief Keef was already supposed to be on the cover but then he got locked up and missed the photoshoot. They knew he was getting out by the time the magazine was supposed to drop so they still put him on there. They would have done something similar with Bobby Shmurda on this cover but they don't know when or if he's even getting out. They spoke on it in the breakfast club interview recently.
