:mjlol: She was so bad, that The Young Turks did 5 segments on her confirmation hearing:

Trump’s pick for education secretary Betsy DeVos wants her and her billionaire friends to be able to set up more cheap, substandard, charter schools all over the country. These schools rake in federal dollars yet aren’t held to any standards. The substandard parts are where the owner class saves (pockets) the money. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go
"Donald Trump’s nominee for education secretary appeared stumped by senators when they asked her about a federal education law related to discrimination during her confirmation hearing Tuesday night.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) asked Betsy DeVos about how she’d enforce the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. IDEA, as the law is known, requires that public schools provide children with disabilities a “free and appropriate” education just like other students.
As DeVos danced around his questions, Kaine grew agitated, asking her point-blank if schools should have to follow federal law.
“Should all K-12 schools receiving government funding be required to meet the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act?” he asked.
“I think they already are,” DeVos responded, suggesting that no school is failing to meet the law.
“But I’m asking you a ‘should’ question,” Kaine followed up. “Should all schools that receive taxpayer funding be required to meet [the law]?”
“I think that’s a matter that’s best left to the states,” DeVos responded, essentially saying the federal government should abdicate enforcement of its own law.
Kaine pretty much lost it at that point.
“So some states might be good to kids with disabilities, other states might not be good, and then what? People can just move around the country if they don’t like [the schools]?””*

Al Franken had several lines of questioning Trump pick Betsy DeVoss. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go

"He also pushed DeVos on her family's past donations to groups that support anti-LGBT causes—including Focus on the Family, a nonprofit founded by evangelical leader James Dobson—and even asked whether DeVos supported conversion therapy.”*

During a recent hearing, Al Franken quickly realized Betsy DeVos has no idea about anything related to public education. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go
"Senator Al Franken came to today's hearing on Betsy DeVos' confirmation as Education Secretary armed with facts and figures and basic knowledge of education policy.
Sadly, Mrs. DeVos did not, as Franken soon exposed.
At one point, her answers showed she did not understand the difference between proficiency and growth when evaluating student's performance on standardized tests.
Growth is the measure of how much a student learns year-to-year compared to his or her peers. Proficiency is the attainment of specific objective benchmarks, usually determined via standardized testing. There's a huge difference between the two, and the debate is one that heavily influences public education policy.
Franken let DeVos know he wasn't impressed, chiding, "It surprises me that you don't know this issue."
(Committee chairman Lamar Alexander limited the hearing to one round of questions per Senator, 5 minutes each, claiming that it was precedent from past hearings. Despite Democratic senators' protestations, he held to that standard. )
Franken also tried to nail DeVos down on conversion therapy, asking if she supported it for LGBT students.
"I have never believed in that," DeVos replied. "I fully embrace equality and believe in the innate value of every single human being and that all students should be able to attend schools and be free of discrimination."
Unfortunately, this doesn't square with her family's gifts to organizations like Focus on the Family and other anti-LGBT organizations who actively advocate for conversion therapy.
When DeVos was confronted by New Hampshire Senator Maggie Hassan on the Prince Foundation's donations to Focus on the Family, DeVos denied having any position on the board of that foundation and said her mother makes her own grants to other organizations without any input from her.”*

Betsy DeVos is planning to gut education and use the money for tax cuts for her billionaire friends. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go
"President-elect Donald Trump’s controversial nominee for education secretary went before a Senate committee on Tuesday, where she faced tough questions from Democrats over her efforts to expand charter schools, her family’s political influence, and her positions on guns and sexual assault on campuses.
Betsy DeVos, a billionaire from one of Michigan’s most powerful Republican families, has spent years funding “school choice” efforts in her home state and around the country. Public education advocates and teacher unions have described her as a radical choice to be the face of federal education policy.
DeVos’ vast wealth figured prominently in the hearing. Her family, which made its fortune through Amway and is worth an estimated $5 billion, has been a major funder of charter school expansion, Republican candidacies and efforts to weaken labor unions. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) asked DeVos if she would have found herself there Tuesday if she wasn’t so rich.
“If you were not a multibillionaire … do you think that you would be sitting here today?” Sanders asked.”*

Betsy Devos had an interesting response to the question of guns in schools. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, tell you why Bestsy Devos thinks guns in schools are a state issue. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. https://www.tytnetwork.com/go

“Donald Trump’s pick to head the Department of Education had a particularly rough hearing on Tuesday, taking a battering from Minnesota Senator Al Franken (D-MN) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)

However, nothing quite caught the flavor of how poorly her hearing went than her response to Sen. Chis Murphy (D-CT) who asked her, “Do you think guns have any place in or around schools?”

After saying the availability of guns should be “best left to locales and states to decide,” Devos replied to further questioning on guns on campus by adding, “I will refer back to Senator Enzi (R-WY) and the school he was talking about in Wyoming … I would imagine that there is probably a gun in the schools to protect from potential grizzlies.”

You can probably guess how that was met with the quipsters on Twitter.”

The worst part is that by keeping the red states as dumb as they do let's those morons think that they're looking out for anyone but the wealthy. I just want to be living someplace else when the bottom falls out on this country because it's going to be a nightmare. I'm talking book of Eli type dystopia in the Midwest and maybe on the coasts too.

But but but We Are Making America Great Again!!!!!:troll:
