Better Actor: Samuel Jackson or Will Smith

Will smith has more range. He can go from bad boys to hitch to the pursuit of happiness. I also feel like you can actually build a film around Will whereas Samuel is typically a supporting cast member.

Its like every movie Samuel has ever been is like so & so film featuring Samuel L. Jackson.

I'm not even sure about this range argument because samuel jackson is also a better comedic actor than than will smith who usually plays the straight role around other comedic actors.

The only reason people try and put the one dimesional label on sam j is because his bat shyt crazy characters are so god damn memorable but when you actually think about it the the django c00n is nothing like jules winfield (nevermind his roles in eves bayou, in my country, star wars, 187, or coach Carter)


Will smith has benefited from being the go to protagonist in big budget movies with large cgi budgets. He's like Tom cruise in that aspect.

I could imagine jackson filling in for will smith's movies (sam j in I am legend ) and actually being more enjoyable.

Will Smith is talented but he has limits and it shows especially when he does more dramatic roles.

I can't see Will carrying a movie like The Hateful 8 the way Sam did with other seasoned actors.
