New York had its peak black population in 2000 with 2,129,762 blacks. The City lost 41,252 blacks between 2000 and 2010, a loss of 1.94%; in '10 NY had 2,088,510 blacks....

Per the link I sent you earlier, in 2017 NY was estimated at 1,879,876 black people, a decline of 208,334 people, or 9.99%, in just seven years...

Yes, losing 10% of your population in seven years is dramatic, that is rapid. At the rate NY has lost blacks this decade, it is on pace to be down roughly 300,000 blacks, or nearly 15%, by 2020...

There is no way you can spin a loss of 300,000 people or 15% of your population, you can't spin a loss that large in only 10 years into a positive. Black people are leaving New York and they're leaving en masse. Obviously this is news to you, but it isn't news to the local and national publications that have been following the deteriorating black community in NYC for years...

I would say don't feel too bad because black people are also leaving other cities as well...

Conversely, Asian NY is up almost 20% (18.98% to be specific) since '10 and is at its highest population ever currently; Latino NY is up 7.76% since '10, also at it's all time high currently. So, just to help you out here, as of 2017, Black NY has declined by 10% while the Latino NY has grown by 8%, and Asian NY has grown by 19%, with Asians gearing up to be higher population than blacks in SI and Manhattan in 2020, and Asians already outnumber blacks in Queens...

Black NY is in trouble, the fact you're not in tune to what's going on around you isn't a good look. NY will have less than 1.8 million blacks in '20 after having almost 2.2 in '00. According to google NY has 8.6 million people and someone on city data told me the the current black percentage is 24% like @kingofnyc just posted with the US census data.

According to the math that would mean there are still over 2 million black folks in NY currently.
