If you chose to go into retail management, medical field, engineering, hotel/tourism, military, you can eat well here.

you can live pretty comfortably here in new orleans off of 40-50k meaning:

you can take care of all of your expenses (rent/mortgage, lights, cable, gas, water) for around 1500.

if you're netting $3000, then that other 1500 can go to a car note and insurance lets say 600, then the other 900 is for savings and gas, lunch, groceries, and "stuff".

developed and underdeveloped spots, with plenty
of blight, corruption, and violence.

That's why we keep getting the Oakland
comparisons. Love my city, but it's time to move

I was looking at South Carolina, been posting on job
websites like LinkedIn, looking at properties and I may
go just to check out the landscape.

May use Texas as a back-up plan.

I don't appreciate my city getting shytted on, but it is what it is. I can't say anything about New Orleans because I've never been. I have been to Memphis a couple of times and got a couple of homegirls that live around there. It's not a bad place. I really enjoyed Beale St. and even though it's not Las Vegas, the casinos is a 30 min trip. I haven't been able to check on the Strip Clubs there but I'm going the next time I'm up there. I really can't say anything bad about Memphis since I don't think I have been there enough to say what I like and dislike. So since I feel like my city will have the lowest amount of votes, I'm going to vote for Birmingham.

Birmingham is nice even though I rarely go into the city, except that time I went to UAB. But anyway, most of the time I go to Hoover, Vestavia Hills, and Inverness.
