Taking absolutely nothing away from what the Spurs have managed to accomplish, but it's more difficult to build a dynasty in the NFL, than it is in the NBA.
Spurs are my fav basketball team, I don't give too shyts about the Patriots beyond Brady. I don't actually have a fav NFC team. My fav college football is Florida state and has been since the 90s. I starting liking Bama when my cousin went there. I will always cheer for fsu over Bama
Nothing and no one touches my spurs. Tim Duncan is my fav athlete of all time. I became a fan of his when he was at wake, because I like the tarheels
The Lakers were nearly as great during the same period. No other team has been even close to the level of the Patriots...speaks to how hard it is to do what the Patriots have done in the NFL.
both teams still win without their best player (duncan, tom), speaks a lot on how great the coaches, organization, and system is.
It's harder to be consistently great in football, but in basketball the best team wins 90% of the time in series while in football 1 or 2 plays can swing the entire momentum. The pats are 5 plays from being 0-7 in sbs and 2 plays for being 7-0 in sb's. Margin of error is so thin in the nfl. The spurs except the 05 finals won all their rings in 6 games or less.
What the Patriots have done will never be replicated. Since Tom Brady took over for Bledsoe at QB in 2001(shout out to Mo Lewis), the Pats have:
- Won the AFC East 13 times, never finishing lower than 2nd(one year Brady tore his ACL Week 1, they still won 11 games)
- Went to 7 Super Bowls, winning 5
- Went to six straight AFC Championship games(and counting) and 12 AFC CGs overall(Bledsoe played the first one since Brady got hurt)
- Averaged 12.4 wins a season
