Getting a bigger pop doesn't mean it's a better entrance, just means the guys coming out are bigger stars. Austin and Rock get bigger pops than both of them dudes and their entrances are pretty fukking bland most of the time.

Austin's music is pure excitement compared to the all of the extra shyt needed for Taker or Goldberg. Rock blows a crowd up to just on the beginning of his theme....all of that extra nonsense just delays the match and is really suited for some heel shyt.

I think it was Kevin Sullivan who explained the reasoning was the security was to protect people from Goldberg, not Goldberg from people. like he was this bad dude who was also dangerous.

It doesn't need an explanation imo, Tyson, Mayweather, Anderson Silva, Brock, etc all come to fight with security around them, it added to Goldberg's aura of being "real". I thought wrestling was real in 97-98 and I thought he'd beat Stone Cold's ass just by how much more physical his matches were and how he carried himself.

That was the big thing. It was like "This guy is serious. He's not a character. He's just THAT guy, everyone knows it, and no one can touch him. In a sense, Goldberg being undefeated is what made his entrance so dope. It all gave the viewer a sense that this guy was really unstoppable.

The ILLEST thing about it that got me every single time was that he'd stand IN his pyro and exhale the smoke out.

that "boxer entrance" did help make entrances feel big time. The WWF did it for awhile in the late 90s for the main events, always made the match feel like a big deal.
