From a creative standpoint iD say the current "cloud trap" beats you hear from ppl like thugger and all the lil b clones are more creative but them soul samples were just so damn soulful

Both make terrible artist sound better than they are.

Hell like what the hell has Geda K done outside of this throwaway that Ye gave em that still is

From a Rap perspective sure the rappers were much better but even then that would be comparing rappers of then to now, because much of the dudes rapping on these beats were Roc or Dipset Weed Carriers who nobody cared about. I think the beats of today are more complex while back in the 2000s just find a soul song and speed it up and you were done. I think we get caught up in "the good ol days" thus we can't appreciate sonically what people are doing today.
