you guys still think that rappers lingering around equates to having some sort of legendary run.

silkk had a 6 year run and was a huge top-tier star thru most of it, and got out when he couldve easily still put out more records. and hes still rich in 2021. and you really dont want to talk impact. silkk basically rode shotgun on the label that changed the landscape of the entire industry.

e-40 is a super-regional rapper who is opening up at clubs in his mid-50s for a rapper named lil baby. i remember he was begging dr dre to acknowledge him a couple years ago. most of his slang that yall dwell on is regional as well. no groundbreaking hits or impact. never even went on a national tour. his biggest looks are features where he really wasnt needed.

and thats no knock on e-40. yall just have a lack of perspective.
thats like saying fat joe had a better career than jarule. or busta rhymes had a better career than DMX.

I don't think anyone would deny that. The whole notion that Silkk was always this wack rapper that rhymed off beat is exaggerated. Dude was definitely a star from '98-'00, but that Made Man album slowed his momentum. That album pretty much started the narrative of what he is criticized for now.

That Source cover was accurate though, because looking at the cover and the styles and even some of the cities represented on that cover really did end up defining the next decade and even decades of rap.

Silk was terrible even when he was a "star" go back and listen to his feature on that Mya song and tell me different. Charge it 2 da game is probably the best produced No Limit album outside of Life or Death that's the only the thing that saved him.
