Just gotta embellish (but not lie) and play up anything you have done.

Worked at a supermarket? For example, don't just say you were a cashier, say you have hands-on experience handling payments from customers and that you're skilled in using scanners, cash registers and calculators.

You have computer skills? Know how to use Word or Excel? Put it on your resume and play it up. Obviously you're on a message board so you have some tech-saavy, try to make that clear on your rsume.

In college? List your college coursework and any projects you've done that might be impressive (don't list your GPA unless it's good though).

:ohhh:

Good shyt breh. :blessed:

Yeah my resume is sort of :trash: :mjcry:

I've volunteered at Prospect Park Tennis Center about 3 summers in a row and worked at a supermarket for a summer but that's about it. :mjcry:

But how am I supposed to fill out my resume if I can't get a job? :sadcam:

I think in person is always good...be confident, approachable.

If you're unable to find work, it's always a good idea to do some volunteering or secure an internship just so that you can make connections and be able to include the work experience on your resume.

Went to bed at 5 and got up at 8 and walked around Manhattan from about 12-5. I came in about 3 hours ago and my legs and head is killing me, I'm about to pop some Advil pills and go to sleep. :noah:

Anyway, I went to most of the big chain stores but most of them told me to apply online. Gonna check some stores by my school and then probably gonna head back to Manhattan on Friday. I'm probably gonna check MSG to see if they can get me some part time shyt to do or maybe even Barclay's since All- Star Weekend is coming up. :leon:

Yup, my dad told me the exact same thing when I came home today.

I'm gonna check out some of the mom and pop shops later this week. :myman:

How do you feel about applying to MSG/Barclay's though?

You can probably find something but the wages will be low :ld:

Told you a lot of places will tell you to apply online.

Get that resume looking right  and then put your bid in online. Follow the tips I gave you earlier and please, for the love of god, spell check that ish'...just doing that should give you an advantage over a lot of other applicants. You should be able to find something.

Since you said you're in college, I would also suggest seeing if they have a career center or career counselor that you can hit up. A lot of colleges have stuff like that and people don't take advantage. Make an appointment with your college counselor and see if he/she knows somebody that's hiring, and maybe have them look over your resume.

Every store I go into it's either "Apply online" or "We're not currently hiring.":mjcry:

I go to mom and pop shops...Nothing. :mjcry:

I go to retail chains...Nothing. :mjcry:

I apply online...Nothing. :mjcry:

It's a damn struggle out here. :mjcry:

Which one is a better option in your opinion brehs?

I've been applying online for a while and always get rejection emails so I've been wondering if it's a better option for me to go to the store in person and speak with the manager to apply? :patrice:

Oh and can ya'll list some good places for a breh to work in part time? I've been applying to big name stores like Target's, Best Buy's, Macy's but I keep getting rejected so it's time to try something new. I'm in Brooklyn right now and pay isn't a factor. I'll take minimum wage. :ehh:
College Grad, here.

Unless you really need it, forget a part time job.

You need to be in your Major's offices and meeting professors and advisers and worrying about networking for that job after you get out---your real job.
