This was literally my argument when people want to bring to Hammer or Vanilla Ice in regard to sales. Yes, they sold millions at their peak, but exactly how long was their peak? Meanwhile, an artist like Snoop was still going strong a decade and some change after his debut musically. Though he has some duds, he has iconic album in Doggystyle and several others that are good to great. Very few can say they've had the career Snoop has.
