Fresh Prince had way badder women than Martin.

Martin had the following women guest star on the show:

Tichina Arnold (main character as Pam)

Vivica A. Fox
Kenya Moore
Angelle Brooks
Kim Fields
Wendy Raquel Robinson
Kellita Smith
Pam Grier (yeah, I know, she was on Fresh Prince too)
Lynn Whitfield
Lark Voorhies
Beverly Johnson
Merrin Dungey

After watching the original video and looking through this thread, I'm starting to realize that people are stereotyping Fresh Prince.

People are seriously treating it like it was this profound, moral sitcom meant to teach you a lesson and think about life every episode. It's like a backhanded way of complimenting it if you're into Martin more, on some "Yeah, it wasn't funny, but it taught you things" shyt.

The show didn't go out of its way to teach lessons every episode. There were definitely episodes with morals, but a lot of the episodes were just about comedy. Like the one where Bell Biv DeVoe shoots a music video in the house, or when Will was up all night trying to study for a chemistry test. Those are two of the best episodes of the show and they had nothing to do with messages or morals. They were just based in comedic fukkery.
I think you're right as far as the lessons go but that's bc when it came out it Cosby show ended in 93 then a different world came out followed by fresh prince. People compared them from jump. Martin came out in 92 but never got compared to them bc technically it wasn't a "family comedy". Fresh prince started with lessons tho.

I appreciate Martin more as an adult, because I get all the jokes.

It’s like that for a lot of stuff from the 90s.

:hhh: nah growing up watching family matters was a part of life. I would always make time for it and turn off the TV once step by step theme song came on :scust: that was an unwatchable show.
That's funny bc the only thing I remember about step by step is "step by step day by day" and a rollercoaster. That's like the first 15 seconds I think :russ:

Strictly For My Lurkas...
It was originally supposed to be a more “serious” dramedy about the police chief from Die Hard (Carl) as a spin off show, Urkel was supposed to be a bit part.
It was a spin-off of perfect strangers. Harriet worked in the office with cousin larry and balki.

steve urkel is the icon and defintion of a 1 man team in TV/Movies. I can prolly safely say he was the sole reason why people stayed watching Family Matters.

Yeah but that show was doo doo, highly unwatchable now.

:leostare:

Family Matters was a spinoff of Perfect Strangers where Carl and Harriet were introduced

Fresh Prince gave us multi dimension characters, Martin gave us 1 dimensional characters who relied on the same gags. Both had their moments but everyone knows FP had the better run. I see Fresh Prince like Tim Duncan, while Martin was like Allen Iverson. Interpret that however you wish.

This.

Martin may have been funnier, but the Fresh Prince was the better show. In fact, I think Jazz was the only repeat gag on that show.
