LOVED BOTH SHOWS BUT MARTIN GOT THIS EASY

Martin had way funnier highs but also more duds. Fresh Prince was a better overall show in terms if writing, acting, storylines, etc. Martin was basically Martin Lawrence clowning. I love them both but Id go with Fresh Prince. Cant think of a bad episode of Fresh Prince while Martin had some mediocre episodes with maybe a few good laughs in it

It's all preferences at the end.Martin is for people who like that what I call "wacked out" comedy. That Steve Harvey, Cedric "Ahahaaaaaa" type stuff. I could never get into Martin cuz I always felt it was kinda corny. Didn't care for "Shanaynay" and all these different characters. Felt corny and try hard. I don't like when a show/comedian makes me feel like I'm supposed to laugh. Just give me the joke and I'll decide if it's funny or not. I don't care how many wigs and funny faces you make.
Fresh Prince is a show that'll catch you laughing even when it's on in the background and you're not really paying attention just by listening to how everyone is interacting with each other. The thing is EVERYBODY on Fresh Prince was funny. Carlton, Geoffrey, Hilary, Ashley, Dark Skin Aunt Viv, the Big Guy.. everyone had their moments and it was unintentional humor. Even little Nicky. Mainly just off the rip comments and shade throwing that made the jokes 10x funnier.
Fresh Prince felt like you were a fly on the wall of a funny family household.
Plus Fresh Prince wasn't "just" comedy. They had deep episodes, they had lessons and morals. They had conscious material. It had a little bit of everything.
They were both relatable...but Martin had a tendency to make fun of certain things that we all understood....things like "not paying the 5"...the episode of not settling for a job unless it was the one you think you should have...the one about how bruh man borrowed the CD player...he jut made fun of everyday stuff...it was never that 'deep' with him.
Fresh Prince a lot of the time had serious moments...and they captured that well.
But If I had to say which is better...i'd say Martin did the "laugh at everyday things" better than FP did the "life lessons to learn from" type of thing.

Fresh prince all day.. I wasn't fukking with martin at all growing up. He was too extra too me.. Sha nay nay and the other characters wasnt funny either.. He tried soo hard to be funny that the shyt was corny. Cole, tommy, and bra man i could fukk with.. i try to watch it now that im older and it's a lil funnier, but still not it.. My top shows was

Martin was an ensemble show( that’s why it falters so hard in the end)

Don't agree in the later seasons, and why its stronger than martin imo.
In the later seasons, Carlton could easily carry an episode and wouldn't need Will as much. Carlton losing his virginity, dealing with his stress with getting into Harvard...Even a rare episode of Ashley or Jefferey doing their thing was dope.
Martin tho, if he wasn't involved it was trash. Pam and the record business shyt was a bore fest.

Bruh you took my exact words I be thinking when I watch it, it's like bro you ain't gotta do all that extra shyt. My parents love Martin for that but I never understood it.
