SCOTTSDALE - A New York model and dancer was the victim of an attack at a Valley nail salon, according to court documents.
Nail salon worker Huong Thi Diem Nguyen attacked Erynn Turkovich after Turkovich “asked for her polish to be darker,” the victim’s sister, Bri, said. Bri asked to only be identified by her first name.
Turkovich was in the Valley to visit her sister. The attack happened at K-Land Nails and Spa near 64th Street and Greenway Road in Phoenix, documents said.
Nguyen “went nuts,” and scratched and hit Turkovich, Bri said.
Clumps of Turkovich’s hair were pulled out, according to court documents and shown in a picture Turkovich provided.
Other salon workers pulled Nguyen away from Turkovich to end the May 10 attack, documents said.
Nguyen was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault. A worker at the salon Friday declined to comment to ABC15.
Turkovich has performed as a dancer in music videos by Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. Her resume also lists performances at the MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards.
She now cannot work because of her physical injuries and altered appearance.
Turkovich estimated it will take five years for her hair to fully re-grow.
“She shouldn’t be working with the public,” Bri said of Nguyen. “I’ll never go there again.”
