actually... you have to fight it and sing bad on purpose. there's a t-pain interview where he goes into it. if youve never tried autotune you'd have to see it to believe it. to get the 'robot glissando' effect you have to force the software to REALLY work hard which means you gotta be REALLY singing badly to get that effect lol

the south park guys used autotune when they made the kanye fishsticks episode and trey parker talks about how hard it is to get the effect. heres a citation if you wanna read more about it
