:lawd: praise the lord for this powerful thread ...afew questions

And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.

  • Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. 2 Kings 2:23-25 NIV

  • You may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT

I don't think that you're taking into account the context of this passage; God specifically told Onan that he should take his late brother's wife as his own and bear children with her in his brother's name. He was punished not because he spilt his semen on the floor but because be disobeyed God. It's not in any reference to masterbation.

It is a sin to make fun of anyone. I believe that this passage is very important for Christians as it shows us that children- of a certain age- are not immune from sin and thus children are not immune from eternal damnation. It is vital that we teach our children right from wrong as early as possible.

Nevertheless, what Elisha did was greatly condemned by God and it prevented him from entering heaven after his death. In fact, this is a really good example of why Christians should never take matters into their own hands when it comes to justice. Elisha deemed it okay to punish these children through the power that God gave him, which angered God as he had no right to judge them. This passage should be taught repeatedly to those militant Christians who enact violence on people who disagree with them.

Slavery has been practiced since the beginning of time. The slavery practiced by those mentioned in the Bible wouldn't have been as brutal and inhumane as that of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade or the Arab Slave Trade. On a side note, many black people also owned slaves in Africa so I don't really understand your point.

I hope I've been helpful .

Slavery was practiced before by various tribes and people BUT and heres the important distinction.....In polytheistic societies ,the people who captured the slaves just assumed their Gods were stronger than the defeated people they enslaved..not that the people themselves were intrinsically less than human .This meant that the slaves could be eventually freed and assimilated and indeed if you look at a large number of Old empires some slaves rose to great power.

Rome the white European empire even had a black African Generals at some points of its history.

Monotheists like Christianity and Islam had a Far more brutal and insidious form of slavery because they viewed Black Africans as having been created as inferior and being born into sin and there would never be hope for them to be free equal or human. This racism was doctrine and still in the original scriptures.

You're confusing white people's perverse version of Christianity with the original Christianity. The original Christians were a mixture of 'races'- in fact, 'race', as we know it today wasn't even in existence in Biblical times. So how could Christianity have sought to oppress something that didn't even exist at the time?

The passage you quoted in your other post refers to God's covenant with Israel, which he gave to them after taking them out of bondage in Egypt. They were slaves in Egypt and God freed them therefore they could not make themselves slaves again as that would defy God. The other tribes had not made such a covenant with God and thus the Israelites were allowed to enslave them.

If I'm not mistaken, you're saying that because Christianity is a monotheistic religion, it teaches that some people are intrinsically better than others, right? This is actually very wrong as the Bible teaches us that we are all born in sin and that no man is without faults ergo no man is perfect.

Colossians 3:11

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Notice how it doesn't refer to 'race', as we know it today. The last part, in particular, is intriguing as it is basically contradicting your previous point by saying that there is, was, and will be hope of salvation for all.

Please do not mistake some white missionaries' perverse teachings on the Bible. Remember that when the Bible was being written, their ancestors were the ones classed as 'savages' and 'barbarians'...

I don't understand why some people can say with ease that white people distorted history in order to place black people in perpetual psychological slavery but they refuse to believe that they did the same with the Bible and Christianity as a whole. 'White' people, as we know them today, didn't create Christianity, they simply manipulated it to use for their own agendas. The 'original' Christianity is right there in your Bible.

I read it in the almighty Bible. I can't remember the verse right now though.

Anyway, theres already a Bible thread in HL. Search for it. We don't need another #LowerLearning thread on mysticism.

This thread isn't for you. You being in here says a lot about you. Contribute positively to the thread premise or bounce. There's hundreds of other threads debating God, this isn't one of them. Go find those and argue till your heart is content.

Slavery is fine by me as long as y'all follow certain rules. For example, you may beat your slaves, but not so badly that they can't do slave work for you anymore. Only beat your slaves a little. Enough to knock some sense into them. They are slaves, after all.

That sounds really interesting and I would like to learn more about it but perhaps you should make another thread to discuss it- unless there are parts about it in the Bible, of course.
No one really discusses it when they bring up the bible , we should have a thread about it , the fallen angels are basically "aliens" so it would be cool to read discuss
