The Wrong Side of the Tracks
no need to be vague, they are targeting ships heading to israel because they oppose the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
ALL ships heading North through the Red Sea are heading towards Israel due to geography. Has nothing to do with the war......

i've long given up the idea of this place being a majority black forum.

i refuse to believe actual, real black people that DO care about geopolitics or poitics would side with people that destabilize, bomb, and kill countries of black and brown people

Well, lots of “well-to-do” black people support US imperialism (meaning, global white supremacy). Especially after black leftists were killed, imprisoned in the 1960s and 1970s (MLK, Fred Hampton, Mumia Abu Jamal etc.).

Lots of people are neoliberal neoconservative reactionaries now.

Some of you live in an alternative universe if you think attacking ships belonging to other countries providing services to a country you have beef with will go unresponded to.

You don't live in reality. The Houthies can keep this up if they want but they are about to find out
We live in a global economy. This ain't a game.

I live in reality and NO economy takes precedence over the existential existence of an entire people.

The president does. They must notify congess at least 2 days before doing it. they can also circumvent congress if the US is under attack. Neither of these conditions were met by Biden. If attacking and US service people was a reason for war, Iraq and other places with US bases would be bombed right now.

US ships and service men weren't being attacked or killed; which would be reason to strike Yemen. Ansar Allah made it perfectly clear that they are attacking ships headed to Israel in THEIR jurisdiction of the Red Sea. Not only that, not a single person has been killed by Ansar Allah and their conditions for stopping their attacks were simple; stop bombing Gaza.

Biden is striking the 9th poorest country in the world for attacking commercial vessels. But won't stand up to or sanction a nation being sued for actual genocide. No rational person can justify this hypocrisy.

this idiotic president is dragging americans into a regional and possibly global war...for what??

The US president does not need congressional approval to respond to direct attacks on US servicemen (or ships, as is the case here) from terrorists. Sending US troops into battle requires informing congress. No such act has occurred here.

They are attacking ships in international waters, a violation of international law. Many of the ships they've attempted to hit have no direct ties to Israel either.

We Americans dikkride this country at the worst time. This is about money. We aren't protecting anyone because, so far, Yemen is focused on disrupting ship movement in the region.

When Yemen started interfering with the Gazan parking lot campaign, the West sat there watching and move ships in place. When Yemen started fukking with the West's money, the UK and US attacked.

The arabs are terrorists but lets not act like the US is doing the right thing here. We're protecting our economic interests in the middle east, like we always have. Why do you think we invest so much into Israel? Challah doesn't taste that good.

Please don't tell me this is gonna be like twitter where leftist burnouts pretend like Houthis haven't violently taken over large parts of Yemen, enslaved people, and are now attacking ships in international waters. There is no logical argument against Biden's actions, which are legal and more than justified.
I'd never defend Yemen.

This. There is no logical reason for this behavior to be allowed. Throwing off global shipping being allowed for any reason would be an endorsement of chaos and anarchy.

i don't know why you just keep repeating yourself as if that makes your objectively false conclusion true.

he needs congressional approval for a strike. Ansar Allah did NOT attack US service people. The containers being shipped sent out distress calls for the US service people in the Red Sea -- which people have been questioning WHY the US is there in the first place. International waters aren't policed by one country, especially if the jurisdiction is for a sovereign nation. Which is why the US won't dare attack China in the South China sea or aid the Philippines in scuffles there.

again, to sanction air strikes, the sitting president needs congressional approval; it's in Article 1, Section 8 of the constitution:

  • Constitution: Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution grants Congress the sole power to declare war. While air strikes might not constitute a full-blown war, this argument suggests they still fall under the umbrella of "war-like actions" requiring Congressional authorization.

both republicans AND democrats are pissed off because they know he needs approval before doing this and the consequences of his actions.

Again, no rational person can justify bombing Yemen because they attacked COMMERCIAL ships with ZERO deaths. But NOT sanctioning Israel for ethnic cleansing and genocide; of which there are over 20,000 deaths and nearly half being children.

Both problems can be solved now without violence. Biden is choosing to go to war with the middle east instead of stopping it from happening.
