My god TLR stays posting Republican talking points :mjlol: I've never seen a group of "black" people dikkriding FOX News so much

It's a pilot program to test the feasibility of the tax and is only going to apply to volunteers for now. In three years Congress will vote on whether to implement it permanently.

Stop with the facts. Me no like facts....me like just dumb hot takes.

This is the "bipartisan" senate bill. And this is being misrepresented. A mileage tax isn't being implemented.

It won't matter, semantics don't matter. People read bumper stickers not slogans. The Republican ad will say "Democrats proposing a mileage tax in their massive infrastructure bill!"

How did you find the account you're quoting? All the garbage on there should have given you a clue as to their motive. The Fox News image should have been another one.

Yes, it is being misrepresented. It's a pilot program (in essence a feasibility study) that's small-scale and will use volunteers that will be reimbursed at the end. It won't move beyond that stage like a lot of other government pilot programs.
I seen someone post about it on fb, then I just searched on twitter “mileage tax”.

You're naive as hell if you don't think that it won't be implemented permanently in due time :mjlol:

Someone has to pay for the infrastructure bill and it won't completely be the rich paying their fair share of taxes. Who in the fukk is going to willingly volunteer for that type of thing :laff:

Mileage tax will replace gas taxes as more EVs are adopted.
It’s very unlikely that the tax applies to ICE vehicles as we already pay at the pump.

They will tax you at vehicle registration time when your mileage is counted

Probably part of renewing vehicle registration

probaly some crap when you get your vehicle registered or inspected.

I can see that. But in Florida, you renew every two years (you have the option anyway). So they would hit you with two years of taxes hypothetically? That'd fukk up your filing wouldn't it?

They’d probably do it based on projected mileage in that case

It’s funny because the first thing I thought of when I woke up this morning was that I wish I had to pay more taxes :mjlol:

it's a test program that you would sign up for (and be reimbursed for) and it would be in theory to replace the taxes on gas in the future if they determine it's a good idea.

no idea if it's a good idea, but you're not going to start paying a mileage tax as soon as the bill is passed.

It's not a good idea because you're punishing people who live and work in rural and suburban areas. You're essentially pushing those that can't afford it to live in cities.
