The vast majority of ppl sold to the Americas were people who were already of indentured serf class and/or from weaker tribes/ethnic groups, the only time a slave trader could be caught and sold himself was in the case of two or more warring groups engaged in the slave trade where prisoners of war were taken and sold off.

But, the vast majority of slave traders especially the most prominent ones, like the chiefs and wealthy middlemen merchants, remained in Africa with all of their riches.

Robertson County, TX, Evangeline Parish, LA, and St Laundry, LA are where my enslaved ancestors were freed from slavery. The TX lineage come from a TN and a SC line via the domestic slave trade.
