The fact that he's being blasted for posting the meme shows how weak and lost we are as a community. Anytime anybody steps up to talk about problems with black women their met with immediate backlash. Even other black women with Badu being an example. This is the result of 4 decades of that black feminism bullshyt which completely alleviates any blame/responsibility for black women.

This isn't addressing any problem or more importantly a solution.

It's just promotion of a dumb ass stereotype. The same stereotype that justifies young black men getting gunned down by cops.

But Yall get up in arms when white people repeat the shyt:martin:

Acknowledging or identifying a problem is the first step to solving it. That should be common sense. You're deflecting. If you can't admit that the pic in that meme of the girl thotting it up in front of her child represents a problem in our community then you're a liar.

What problem is it? And how prevalent is it in "our community"? And what are the effects of said problem?

The meme only critiques women, but that doesn't mean that men don't get critiqued for being irresponsible, non productive, deadbeats.

Do we always have to address both when the issues are different?

And that's why it is dumb. He's putting the onus on one person to raise a child when it takes two. Memes in general are stupid

And black men don't get critiqued at the same scale even when they're doing much worse damage. We critiquing women for not raising their children properly but completely disregard the lack of a leader in the household?

As a man, if you are doing your JOB, no one will ever critique the mother of your child for how they were brought up. It alway goes back to men doing their jobs, and many do not and escape critique, why? Because it is normal. It's normal to see black men not take care of their responsibilities. The image of today's black family consists of one parent...and it's usually the woman. That is the image that has long been promoted. Are you happy about that?

So if you're cool with Big Boi perpetuating this damaging garbage then good for you. I don't appreciate any of this shyt.

Need to see people promote more positive images of black men and women instead of irresponsible, divisive crap.

There is a lot of truth to this young moms need to get their shyt together. You got 30 year olds out here tweaking with their kids on camera and shyt. Even if the dad isn't in their lives that doesn't give you a pass to be a imbecile while raising them. "He should be there but he's not there so I'm just going to neglect my child and act like a thot till I'm 50" NO, if that's the case he/she is better off in military school where he/she will learn at least some discipline. Even in households were the dad is there there or paying child support(which is what most of these women mean by single mother hood) are women who will still do all this shyt like an attention seeking Thor because that's what most women born after 1980 are. You can be mad if you want but don't up here talking shyt as if this ain't a damn problem this is a SERIOUSLY problem. The more and more you clowns try and give these care takers passers rather they be male female mom or dad cousin or aunt whoever is raising them it doesn't matter. Hold them to a certain standard and don't be on some black feminist mess be straight up and don't deny that motherhood in 2016 is as broke down as it's ever been. These mother fukkers ain't being raised right by their moms or their dads and NO BW should not get a pass or have the black community turn a blind eye to the state of motherhood just for the sake of "not making black women look bad." They need to get shyt together if you're going to raise your child give it your all and stop making excuses as to why you chose to not put old habits to bed. For the sake of your child.

Maybe it's the circles people run in, but I don't know anybody personally that does not critique men harshly for being irresponsible fathers. They are pretty much considered "pieces of sh*t", whereas the women are more "mis-guided". Not to get in a pissing contest on who gets more blame, but in the circles I run in both men and women are held responsible, and if anybody even suggested that men shouldn't be as responsible as women, they would be met with severe opposition.

I feel that Big Boi has done much to promote positivity in the black community and preached family values. I don't think he is saying it's acceptable for men to be terrible fathers because that goes against what he's rapped about for 20+ years. But he just addressed a situation of women needing to step it up as well. He could have sent out messages challenging black men to be better fathers and leaders for 364 days out the year, and still would have gotten flack by sending out that meme on day 365.
