Good thread. The 2 years before the pandemic I was traveling like every 2-3 weeks across country. I added Amex Delta Platinum and JetBlue Plus by Barclays to my chase Safire Preferred and Amex Everyday.

I passed on the Platnium though they harassed me with that join for a year solid.

The month before COVID lockdown I was able to use book 5 nights at the Disney Springs Hilton on just points and free JetBlue tickets for 4 and use points from my Amex for a rental.

Chase Safire Preffered is probably the best overall card I think when you take signing bonus,s out of the equation.
Amex did just get me to upgrade y Amex everyday to the preferred card tho…they did a 40k points on 2k in spend in 3 months for the $95 fee. Too good to pass up IMO.

I’ve been having issues getting MR points with my Gold card with certain restaurants. Apparently, it all depends on how the merchant processes payment. For example, if you’re getting gas from a Mom & Pop gas station, they may process your payment under the Merchandise/Supplies catergory instead of Fuel. To avoid the hassle, I suggest googling the merchant code of the business before making a purchase. I didn’t see a list for Amex, but MasterCard and Visa has one that you can use. Amex being a bytch about re-categorizing my transactions for points.

They fkd around and gave me the 10x gas rewards on the welcome offer JUST in time for me to take a 6000 mile road trip with my family for a month

spent $1700 in gas for 17k points

I travel a lot and go to Vegas a few times a year so after reading this thread and watching numerous Youtube videos , it made the most sense for me.

Im actually headed to Seattle this weekend for a work trip. No lounge access for me but I’ll be cleaning up with all the meals I’ll charge for me and my team that’ll be reimbursed
