People forget Track Masters were making raw ass tracks like this at one point..
Damn. I almost forgot that they also worked with G Rap and Polo. Good looking out.

Good pointTrackmasters were not "on" like that back then, even when they produced How You Get A Record Deal for Kane, They were still working with Chubb Rock and Pudgee Tha Phat b*stard during that period.
They didn't really blow up until they worked with Biggie.

This is true, but even as a Kane stan back in the day, he overdid it.I dont even think alot of the shyt was bad at all
rap fans are just fickle, just like most fans in any genre
its like when Ghostface did "wizard of poetry"
of course most mainstream fans werent gonna feel that
but that is something that defines Ghost as an artist musically
BDK always had R&B persona and records
it would be like hating Rick James for making Ballads and not drug fueled pop tunes for every song
He did smoke them, tooHe told that same story on Lord Jamar and Godfrey's podcast a few years ago. It was hilarious though how he set it up, talking about coming to the realization he needed to update his flow, how he started spending hours freestyling with younger cats on the block, sharpening his pen, ready to bomb shyt.......and then he goes to record a song with Jurassic 5 (who I take it he was unfamiliar with at the time)....."AND ALL THESE nikkaS RHYME LIKE I DID IN '88"
Kane is low key a comedian when he wants to be. The wittiest MCs naturally have a great sense of humor.
Ie they were trash.
I re check it out but from what I heard it was trashNot fitting with the current trends doesn't mean it was trash
I thought Looks Like a Job For was a dope album. The title track, "How You Get a Record Deal," "Nuff Respect," etc. got a lot of play from me.
Good point
I don't think anyone is saying they didn't have hardcore shyt, that's just not what people were seeking them out for.
46. Poke and Tone (FKA Red Hot Lover Tone when he was rapping) have been producing since '89, they just weren't household names until later. Tone being a signed artist and being in the scene gave them connections. In 1992 people weren't really "seeking them out". How old are you?

You're basically saying what I just said. Look at the discography. They started getting placements in '90, but weren't household names until later. RHLT, failed or not, was in and knew people.I'm 46 too.. you should know better then. We all know Red Hot Lover Tone was a failed rapper who went into production. They really weren't getting placements as "hitmakers" until 95-96.
