I don't see one artist in the game that put Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee or Grandmaster Caz on their new song or let them perform on the VMA's (Including Me) but people wanna have a problem with @macklemore for paying homage to them? Learn about your history & preserve it now. If not, SHUT THE fukk UP!!! To me this is about real pioneers getting recognition in today's society.

Like I said having them in the video was dope, it was Hip Hop and I wish more people would pay homage in that fashion.

But it can also be seen as a ploy...especially if you look at Cacklemoore as a new artist and not somebody who's been grinding for over a decade before he popped off. I think i'd respect it less or be a little more suspicious of it if he hadn't put in some work. Don't really like the record, and throwing the legends in there kinda gives it a fail safe/passive credibility but there are so many worse things going on than some of our unsung hero's getting some visibility.

It's gonna be dope to hear Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee etc on the radio in 2015. And on the video channels, in whatever capacity, some will actually go and check them out and be listening to a lot of classic music too. But nah let's hype Young Thug wearing dresses and making awful music rather than royalty cheques going to the legends and pioneers. Hope more people do shyt like this, it fit well. wasn't forced, it was right for this song artistically.
