That's hard to say but, I think Slick Rick. I remember when he came out with that album, I knew Hip Hop was about to be big. I remember seeing a dread blasting "the rulers back" out of a maxima in brooklyn, and if you knew west indians back then, you knew they wasn't crazy about rap. I think his sold more then rakims and kanes album at the time as well. Slick rick was BIG when he came out.

don't know if it was just me but felt like Just Blaze was trying to play homie...sh!t got awkward when he got on the line...you can tell Kane felt offended when he asked if Jay wrote some of his sh!t and whole "oh it's funny how back then you were trying to get people a deal somewhere...but nowadays rappers are bosses and will just sign rappers to their own label :mjpls:" ...whole time I'm like "you don't have less loaded questions or observations than that :wtf:"

Other than that I thought it was a dope interview...crazy how a lot of the beats were just flat out loops and rappers were basically doing their own digging, finding their own samples ..basically "producing" but getting no credits and Marly getting all of the producer publishing and royalties for basically engineering work
