Crazy how G rap and KRS and LL transitioned in all eras respectively. If Kane really cared about music he would be up there with him.

Kane in his renaissance.

Other than g rap and ll.
Rejuvenated his cultural standing.

Krs...till krs disses bambaata.

I don't think you can say krs lasted out of his numerous renaissances to save face culturally. After enabling diddy and falling off on sneak attack. To a renaissance woth buck shot. Then destroying it all. To what it seems is a devil worshipper pedo enabler type.
That makes no sense considering what krs has proposed to us before krs souled out the entire new school way of thought. That hiphop is dead to any one younger. Plus has no sway because of krs enabling a pedo child molester.

Sohh kane has rejuvenated his cultural standing. All the way back on platinum plus and find a way vinyl subs. In skill and actual cultural identity. Whereas krs has departed completely away a second time from what and who krs has lead us to believe krs is.

You're talking my language now :ehh:

He's before my time, but I'll relisten with open ears and then some

Press play on the link.

You can not be this black man.

That is accepted as this thing. If Kane is not in your influences period.

If amy of you nikkaz struggling ..it is because you are missing dr j, and Kane, rakim in your main influences you draw from.
Dr j should be the beginning platform and model of what you should be trying to portray as a gateway being a black man. If that is not there. As well as kane and rakim. It is exactly why you have and will struggle.

Kane is an influence archetype for every black male. That even Roxanne shante says kane is the visage of what being a black man in general is.

That shyt not cap.

Plus you will fail. If you fail to note kane as a black man.
Plus you will ultimately fail. If you are defiant and fail to Incorporate kane as an Influence.

All you need is not to half step.
Then start spam'n.
ain't no half stepping till you get it.

You will not be successful as a black man or soul brother. If kane, is not a foundational influence.
nikkaz talembout their struggles.

Most of them is because they have the wrong influence structure. That does not feature Dr j, kane and rakim.

All that other shyt,. Is just minor. Those three should be your main influences.
to succeed as a black man with soul.

If not.

You will fail and never recover.

Simple as that.

True.
It is not that many kane songs.

Yet the staple kane songs are definitive.
in what they are to hiphip culture. Not just in the pillar of emcee'n. The entirety of the culture and pillars as well.

At least you recognize what ain't no half stepping is.

The other part of the question that I missed is age.

How old were cats back then

1988

Dre3000 - 13
Big Boi - 13 (94 for Outkast)

Nas - 15

Bun B - 15
Pimp C - 14 (91, imo for UGK)

BIG - 16
Ice Cube - 18

Rakim - 20
Kane - 20
KRS - 23
LL - 20
Kool G Rap - 20
Jay Z - 19 (never mind Hawaiian Sophie - Jay Z in his current incarnation wouldn't pop until 95/96 with Dead Presidents I (and then DP 2)

Method Man - 17
GZA - 22
RZA - 19

Chuck D - 28
Flavor Flav - 29
Ice T - 30

For a hot minute it seemed like rap was a young man's game

Crazy shyt is he was ahead beat wise, he produced this himself. Both of the joints he used here went on to be hits for other artists years later :wow:

Actually the archetype for the wack rnb hook record. That would become the sellout style rnb rap record. The original kane sellout precursor.
That tried to and failed to.
commercialize and bite i need love. Is actually from kane.

[if I remember right. Kane may have produced this himself too. ]
Yet in revision.

What was once the worst rap record ever made.
Now, it sounds like a hof commercial submission. When compared to the wack rnb hook sellout rap records. That tried and ultimately failed.
to bite the hardcore direction of i need love afterward.

Rap was and always will be a mature bboy game.

When these artist dropped.
Especially kane and rakim. Kane was viewed as a grown man.
on a level that dwarfed.
every man in that real time of rhat era.
Till now.

The first imagery of kane and rakim.

Are still the two leading visuals of influence.
you need after Dr j.
as an influence of success. Especially as a black man.
When kane and rakim dropped.
Was when people were grown at seventeen. That when kane and rakim dropped. They were given precedent over most men. Plus they looked spoke and acted more mature.
than any man visually since then.

The crazy apart is.
Nobody would have believed they were only still teenagers when they debuted. As kane and rakim gave off the aire of being mature past most men of their years and the elders.

I believe they was supposed to battle on that RapMania Pay-Per-View in 1990 if I'm not mistaken
They were, but someone is lying. Rakim said Kane backed out and Kane said Rakim backed out. Ra is my favorite, but I believe Kane because Kane said he wanted to do it strictly for the money. And even more so, Rakim didn't want to do a versus with kane almost 30 years later and that's why he did it with KRS.

Most of it wasn't his fault, some obvious missteps but think about it.

BDK, Rakim and just that class of rappers in general ended up becoming "old school" way earlier than it seems they should have in hindsight with how fast things moved sonically, culturally.

Like it's crazy to think about but those cats SHOULD have been contemporaries with Pac, Snoop ect. but shyt was progressing at lightning speed. Had he stayed on his square things would have been a little different but still would have gotten lapped.

Has anyone pointed out that rap was different then?

The game evolved FAST and MANY legendary rappers were looked at as "washed" by their mid-late 20's .

Y'all are used to 30 year olds still being looked at as cool and elite but it was not like that back then.

LL is an outlier (and they tried to get him out the paint after walking with a panther but he came back swinging with MSKYO)
