If remember correctly him being paired with Ziggler and AJ was a last minute thing to begin with. I'm guessing they figured Ziggler would need muscle to be taken seriously for his title run. So they picked E was because of his size and because he was the hottest thing in NXT at the time. B4 Ziggler concussion it seemed like seeds were being planted for E to turn face a break up the group we'll never know now.
